Pedigree analysis, OFA clearances, and health surveys are essential -- but none of them show you what is quietly disappearing from your breed's gene pool, or which dogs are carrying the alleles that matter most to breed forward.
BetterBred is built on the UC Davis 33-locus STR microsatellite panel -- actual allele-level data from tested dogs, recalculated continuously as your enrolled population grows. The club program gives your health committee the tools, the data, and the interpretation support to understand where your breed stands and communicate it to members and boards in language they can act on.
What this is not: BetterBred is not a kennel club registry, a disease screening service, or a pedigree database. The club program is a population genetics management program. It works alongside OFA, health testing, and pedigree analysis -- not instead of them.
