Happy Three Years!

Off

Wow! It seems not long ago BetterBred quietly opened to the public in June of 2016, after months and months of beta testing with a select few Standard Poodle breeders. But now….it’s been three years! We went from initially offering breed management to a select few breeds to many many breeders and breeds, and with more breeds joining in daily. Breeders are passionate about their breed’s preservation, so it’s no surprise that breed analysis and groundbreaking software (-that manages a breed’s biodiversity and helps a breeder select least related dogs that meet their goals-) would be appealing!

BetterBred has a lot going on behind the scenes and we hope to offer some very exciting and useful new features to serve our breeding community and breeds soon. Thank you to all of our passionate breeders moving their breeds forward for future generations.

What breeds already have their breed analysis and are able to use our breed management software?

Eighteen breeds have full completed analysis with UC Davis! The following is a list of breeds that have full analysis completed as well as links to Facebook groups in which the community can discuss their results and share potential litters, tested puppies and discuss breeding strategies and more! Some breeds are more active than others, but if you know a breeder in these breeds, please share!

What breeds are in the research phase?

Twenty eight more breeds are in research phase! WOW – Many more breeds are coming! We are honored to be working with breeders all over the world during the research phase. Many breeds have their own breed specific group created to allow breeders network with one another, as well as learn how to use this testing to maintain and/or redistribute the existing diversity within each breed with its unique results and needs. Each breed below is linked to their Facebook group, when possible. If a group is not yet created for your breed, please contact us and we will set one up to help guide your breed through the research phase. And we wish to thank the breed representatives who work tirelessly for their breed to move them in to the future of breed management!

We are often asked if breeds have yet been enrolled. Even if your breed isn’t even in the research phase, all it takes is a community that is passionate about preserving their breed and one (or more) individuals willing to help drive the community forward. Read more about enrolling a breed here.

Welcome to all the new breeds as we enter our third year serving breed communities!
